Contacting your advisor
Connecting with your advisor is an important part of meeting your responsibilities as a student, and it can be tricky if your schedule is really tight. Contact your advisor early to register early!
How to I get an advisor?
Advisors are assigned to students during the beginning of your first term, using your major that you indicated on your application. You can change your major and your advisor by contacting the CAP Center. You can request a specific advisor if you ask permission of that advisor and then notify the CAP Center.
Who is my assigned personal advisor?
Login to your student account (use the "My Login" link on www.cocc.edu), select "Registration," and select "Can I register for credit classes?" Your advisor's name will be listed on this page, along with their phone number, email address, and office location.
How can I connect with my advisor?
COCC has a staff directory on the web that is most helpful (select "Campus Directory" from www.cocc.edu). If you select the link from the advisor's name, you will get detailed contact information and frequently the advisor's office hours.
All advisors have their schedules with office hours posted on their office door; this is a great way to find them in their office and set up your advising appointment. Department secretaries can be very helpful in identifying their schedules as well.
Contact your advisor well before you want to register! It is possible that your advisor is already booked or otherwise not available to you in the days right before registration opens, so plan ahead!
